A Land Use Bylaw is a living document, and as such is expected to change and evolve as a municipality develops. It outlines the rules and regulations for development within the Town and guides decision-making processes for development permits and subdivisions. The current iteration of the Land Use Bylaw has been in effect since September 17, 2014. You can apply to amend the land use bylaw in two different ways: textual amendments and land use district changes. Open the relevant drop down menu options below to learn more. | As development advances, sometimes guidelines and regulations within the land use bylaw are no longer necessary. Though Administration will do spot amendments to update the land use bylaw to keep up with best practices, some items may be out of date. You are able to submit an application to amend any part of the land use bylaw that is not governed by a higher document (such as the Municipal Government Act).

| Land Use Changes |
| Land Use Districts are another tool used to guide and control development through-out the Town. Each Land Use District contains a series of permitted and discretionary uses, as well as detailed regulations such as yard setbacks. If your proposed development doesn’t fall within the uses of the existing land use, you may apply to change the land use district.
