Bulk Water

Strathmore's bulk water station is located at the Public Works building on Westlake Road, (behind the former Town Office building at 680 Westchester Road).

The bulk water station is a card-lock system. First time users must register and purchase a bulk water card which contains a pin number. The cost for a bulk water card is $15.00.  You can register over the phone with a credit card by calling 403-934-3133. Bulk water users will be billed monthly for actual water usage at the current rate.

Visit the Utility Rates page for information on rates.

The bulk water station is open 24 hours a day, unless it is closed for maintenance or repair.

Starting April 1, 2025, and following the Government of Alberta guidelines, the Strathmore bulk water station will no longer supply a fill hose. Customers must provide a fill hose to accommodate the adaptor size they have on their tank. The hose must be capable of withstanding 80 psi of pressure, have at least one 3” female coupler end to connect to the male cam-lock adaptor at the station and be long enough to reach the cam-lock adaptor from the vehicle. Please note: Failure to maintain the inspected air gap on the bulk water vehicle may result in the cancellation of bulk water access card privileges and fines and/or prosecution as per the Water Utility Bylaw.

Alberta Health Services; Public health guidelines for non-municipal drinking water July 2021

Vehicle Requirements

Your vehicle and tank must be modified to provide an approved air gap (AAG) to prevent contamination of the public water supply.

Important: Failure to provide and maintain the AAG will result in cancellation of access card privileges.

AAG; The air gap between the end of the pipe and the tank must be at least 2 times the diameter of the pipe (See the diagram below). Rigid piping must also be permanently attached to the vehicle and fitted with a Cam-Lock adaptor (coupler end).

Vehicle connection; 80mm (3") coupler end (female) must be equipped on the water truck/tank.

Strathmore’s water is supplied via the City of Calgary and is transported to the town using the Strathmore owned East Calgary Regional Waterline (ECRWL). Monitored by EPCOR, the town's water regularly exceeds regulation and inspection requirements. Visit Water Supply and Distribution for more information.

The Town is not responsible for the quality of the water received by a Customer from a bulk water station operated by the Town.
