Recycling Facility

Located at 103 Huxted Way, Strathmore's residential recycling facility is operated by Blu Planet Recycling.

Hours of Operation, effective January 2024
Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed on Sunday, Monday and all stat holidays
Closes at 3 p.m. on December 24 and 31
Effective January 2024, the new entrance to the recycling facility will move south of the old location to 103 Huxted Way.
Please be courteous and respectful to others. All items must be placed in designated areas as directed.

The facility is intended for the use of Strathmore residents and not commercial users. Construction, demolition, industrial or commercial waste generators must make arrangements for disposal.

Hazardous Waste in Alberta is regulated under the Province’s Hazardous & Special Products (HSP) Program. The Town is committed to collecting all items accepted through this program.

*Household batteries weighing up to 5kg are accepted and collected through Call2Recycle – Recycle Your Batteries, Canada. Other types of batteries can typically be returned to the retailer where they were purchased for recycling.
*Non-refillable fuel cylinders, up to 1lb are accepted. Larger and refillable propane cylinders are not accepted. Alternate disposal methods include local propane filling stations. 

Never put propane tanks into any of your black or green carts. It is a safety hazard for your driver and staff at the processing facilities.

Reusable Items - Take It or Leave It

Gently used and workable items that allow others the opportunity to take and utilize what they may need.

The Take it or Leave accepts many small household items some of which include: dishes, photo frames, decor, craft supplies, games and puzzles, books, movies and more.

Refer to facility sign for acceptable items as it may change due to demand and use and may change at the discretion of the Town.

Alternatively, residents can utilize the HIG program in April and September, visit a local landfill, or work with the retailers of each product on appropriate disposal.

At this time, the Town does not manage curbside recycling collection (blue carts). This service is provided by private contractors.
