Council Meeting Highlights, February 16, 2022

In attendance: Mayor Fule, Deputy Mayor Montgomery, Councillor Langmaid, Councillor Mitzner, Councillor Peterson, Councillor Wegener, Councillor Wiley

  • A Public Hearing was held for the Legacy Farm Area Structure Plan. Administration gave a short presentation, and members of the Legacy Farm Support Group spoke in favor of the Bylaw. The ASP proposes an attractive, unique, and sustainable development that will generate employment opportunities for the community, and create a fun and attractive regional tourism destination for residents and visitors.
  • Council approved amendments to Bylaw 21-21, Legacy Farm Area Structure Plan and gave the Bylaw second reading.  Council directed Administration to submit the Interim Regional Evaluation Framework application to the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board.
  • Fire Chief Sturgeon presented to Council regarding Bylaw 22-05, the Regional Emergency Management Bylaw and the Regional Emergency Management Agreement, between the Town of Strathmore, Wheatland County, and the Villages of Hussar, Rockyford and Standard. Council gave first reading to the Bylaw and it will return for discussion at the March 9 Committee of the Whole Meeting.
  • Councillor Peterson inquired about the Clean Energy Improvement Program, Council may choose to discus the initiative as part of their strategic planning.
