Summer Camp Program Leader
Full Time Limited Term (July 2nd to August 31st, 2019)
The Summer Camp Program Leader develops and provides direct service delivery through child and youth summer camp programs through the Town of Strathmore Child, Youth and Family Hub. The successful candidate will report directly to the Child, Youth and Family Program Supervisor.
The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to develop, plan and deliver programs and produce positive results in child and youth programs to include program development, problem solving, mentorship and will be committed to strengthening community through child/youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The position plays a central role in providing children with a fun, safe, and supportive environment to engage in various social and recreational opportunities.
Plan, implement and evaluate summer programs for children/youth 5-13 years of age
Coordinate the advertising and promotion of summer programs, including assistance with summer tabloid and digital media
Maintain accurate attendance records and administration for all summer programs as well as accident reports, medical forms, petty cash purchases and program reports
Ensure all facilities used are kept clean and secure, and that all equipment and supplies are returned
Ensure all final reports are complete
Attend training as required
Provide program participants with pertinent information to the programs they are registered in
Attend schedules staff meetings, complete a mid and final evaluation on self and co-workers
Experience, Education, Certifications
- Relevant Diploma or 2-3 years of relevant experience in at least one area of study: recreation, education or other related field and previous experience working with children and/or youth in a program setting
- Minimum of one (1) year experience, preferably in a recreation/summer program environment
Skills and Knowledge
Experience working with children, youth and families
Sense of initiative, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities while respecting deadlines
Strong interpersonal, customer service and public relations skills
Must be able to troubleshoot and solve problems in the best interest of the Town
This position will require standing, lifting, walking, on a regular basis
This is a Safety Sensitive position
- An acceptable Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector
- An acceptable Child Youth Intervention Check is required
Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm (subject to change as required)
