A year round, outdoor recreation facility
The Lions Regional Outdoor Rink was built in 2015 by a committed group of Strathmore residents. The rink is a year round, outdoor recreation facility open free of charge to the general public. Located at the entrance to the Strathmore & District Agricultural Society Park (off Wheatland Trail), the rink is flooded for natural ice in the winter by the Strathmore Parks Department. Lights are on every evening so skating and ball hockey can be enjoyed in the early evenings. The public are encouraged to share the space, making room for all to recreate their way.
The construction of change rooms remains a goal of various groups in the town, but a reconstitution of the Outdoor Rink Committee, fundraising and final plans all remain to be undertaken.
