The Youth Programmer develops and provides direct service delivery through preventative, evidence-based programs through the Town of Strathmore Child, Youth and Family Hub. The successful candidate will report directly to the Child, Youth and Family Program Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Include:
• Collaboratively research, develop and implement a trauma-informed, strength-based approach to building programs and connections with children, youth, families and the community;
• Develop, engage and collaborate with internal and external service providers in an integrated approach to ensure quality and effective youth programs and services are meeting the needs of the community;
• Identify emerging issues, service gaps and opportunities for action and to build community capacity based on a collective impact model;

• Provide youth and their families a more seamless way to navigate and connect with services and social opportunities in the community to build assets, address needs and improve youth outcomes;

• Assist with the research, development, implementation and evaluation of cultural awareness programming with a priority on Indigenous Peoples; • Coordinate the advertising and promotion of youth programs, including social media.

Skills & Experience:

•Experience working with youth and families;

• Sense of initiative, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities while respecting deadlines;

• Maintain professional and evidence-based standards of practice in accordance with a positive youth development framework and relevant legislation and ethics;

• Acts with integrity and commits to team goals;

• Good interpersonal, customer service and public relations skills;

• Must be able to troubleshoot and solve problems in the best interest of the Town;

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.


  • Diploma or experience in at least one area of study: recreation, education, youth studies, community social work, human ecology or another related field.
  • Minimum of 1-year related experience, preferably in a recreation or community youth program environment.
  • A clear Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector search and a Child Youth Intervention Record Check is required.
