Reporting to the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre Manager, this position ensures the operation of summer day camps that guarantee safety, fun, and a wealth of engaging activities.

Position Summary:

Volunteering as a Camp Counsellor at the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre is an opportunity to make a positive impact on young lives while gaining valuable skills for personal and professional growth. In this role, you'll be part of a dedicated team focused on ensuring participant safety and well-being, leading engaging activities, and fostering an environment where every child feels included. Your daily insights will be invaluable to the Sports Centre Manager, helping to shape an even better camp experience. Whether you can spare two weeks or more, your contribution will be a cherished part of the children's summer memories and an enriching chapter in your own life story!

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with implementation of the daily camp programs for children ages 4-12 years
    • Swimming
    • Ice Skating
    • Goat Yoga
    • Field Trips and more!
  • Ensure the health and safety of the children participating in the summer camp program
  • Act as a positive role model and leader at all times
  • Actively participate in all camp related activities
  • Ensure that all work areas are kept clean and organized and all equipment is well maintained
  • Build positive relationships with camp staff, participants, and parents
  • Follow all Town of Strathmore policies and procedures as required
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Perform duties in accordance with all Town safety policies and OH&S requirements

Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume:

  • Previous camp experience is considered an asset
  • Coaching or leadership training and experience would be considered an asset along with previous experience working with youth and youth programs

Our Interview questions are intended to assess the following behaviours:

  • A self starter with the ability to work independently and as a team
  • A passion for working with children and ability to keep them engaged
  • Ability to communicate effectively with camp participants, parents, and other staff
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, including strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
