What You’ll Do:

As a Senior Lifeguard, you will be responsible for helping to maintain the overall operations of the aquatic facility. You will have the opportunity to educate the public about water safety and work as part of a team to ensure the safety of all facility users. You will be prepared to respond to emergency situations, and implement lifesaving and first aid procedures. The Senior Lifeguard delegates tasks and provides supervision to the aquatic team in order to deliver quality swimming lessons, fitness classes, and other programs and services.

Lifeguard Hiring Process:

  1. National Lifeguard Skills Assessment
  2. Stroke Assessment
  3. Instructor Co-Teach Experience / Swim Instructor (if required)
  4. Interview

Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume:

  • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Certificate – Pool
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate (within three years)
  • Current CPR C / AED Certificate (within one year)
  • Lifesaving - Swim Instructor (within 2 years)

Our interview questions are intended to assess the following key competencies:

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently, and also as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritize safety, recognize the signs of an emergency, and take appropriate action
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, team members, and leaders
  • Commitment to use discretion when handling sensitive information
