Election Greeter

Position Overview:

The Election Greeter is a key individual for the election.  You will be a key person who will answer voter questions about the voting process along with maintaining the integrity of the voting process.  In addition, you will assist with the set up and take down of the election.



  • Greet voters, provide assistance to voters when requested and remind voters that identification confirming their name and current residential address is required in order to vote
  • Monitor and assess activity in and around the voting station, including identifying any potential campaign materials that may be distributed and ensure that this is removed promptly
  • Refer all candidates, official agents and scrutineers to the Presiding Deputy Returning Officer

Directing Voters

  • Direct all voters through the voting process
  • Maintain the flow of voters throughout the voting station
  • Ensure voters line up in a single line for the Deputy Returning Officers at the registration table
  • Ensure voters enter and exit the voting station appropriately
  • Other duties as assigned

Training ($50)

  • In-person training is mandatory for election workers
  • All election workers must be able to attend either October 4 or October 12 for election worker training

Election Hours

  • Advance Vote – October 13, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. plus time to set up and take down ($150)
  • Advance Vote – October 16, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 pm. plus time to set up ($150)
  • Election Day – October 18, 2021 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. plus time to take down ($250)

Note: Election workers must be available for all hours.  The Returning Officer will determine the final schedule but, due to COVID-19, it is important that those who are not working all hours are still available, should they be required.


  • Minimum of 18 years of age by October 1, 2021
  • Previous experience as an election worker is an asset
  • Demonstrated oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse members of the public in a respectful and inclusive manner
  • Must be physically able to lift supplies weighting up to 30 lbs
  • Must be able to arrange your own transportation to and from the voting station

Note: Election staff are not permitted to leave the voting station, except when taking washroom breaks.

Prior to beginning work, the successful candidate will be required to provide a successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.  References from recent employers will be required as part of the recruitment process.
