Position Overview:

Reporting to the Family Centre Manager, the Building Services Worker is a key contributor within the Recreation Department.  The primary function of this position is to support the Family Centre team in providing an exceptional experience for facility visitors.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Cleaning common areas, washrooms, dressing rooms, furniture, toilets, showers, and windows
  • Assisting customers at the Family Centre Arena and Civic Centre
  • Setting up tables, chairs, and event equipment including audio/video equipment
  • Operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment (ex. floor cleaners)
  • Assisting facility operators on the ice during floods to move hockey nets
  • Other duties as required

  • Must be willing to take direction from others and follow through with designated tasks
  • Willingness to follow standards and guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to be a self starter and work independently

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires the individual to work variable hours per week, mainly on weekend days/nights
  • Occasional weeknight shifts may also be required based on facility usage
  • This position will require standing, lifting, and sitting for long periods
  • Required to carry a radio when working to stay in contact with staff
  • Driving is a requirement of the position
  • This is a Safety Sensitive position

Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence, including an acceptable Driver Abstract
  • Consent to disclosure of a Criminal Record Check

Hours:

The work week is mainly evening and weekends, with a variable schedule.
