Where Are We Now?

In November 2010 under the guidance of the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie, the club began negotiations with the Town of Strathmore around acquiring the lease on the old youth center (located at 170 Brent Blvd). This negotiation was successful and with a lot of hard work and countless hours put in by a lot of wonderful volunteers, the Youth Club of Strathmore was able to open the doors for programming in the new facility on March 1, 2012. Throughout this process, the club continued to offer after-school programs such as Leadership, Mad Science and Jr Chef and Summer Camp through the support of ReMax Horizon, Hope Church and Lord of All Lutheran Church. With the new facility open these programs continue to be offered with the addition of some new program ideas (i.e. Yoga). Many other after school and weekend programming ideas are in the works (i.e. Extreme Kids Recreation, babysitter’s course, 1st aid, Bricks for Kidz) along with some community outreach and support programs. Some of these project ideas include a Breakfast and Lunch hour Cafe for students in the area, teen movie nights and twilight sports nights and an after school drop-in for homework help and recreational activities.
