Income Tax Program

Starting March 1, Strathmore FCSS, in partnership with volunteers, will be offering free assistance with basic income tax preparation.
This service is available to seniors and individuals with a modest income and simple tax situations who are unable to prepare their taxes on their own.

More than 5 People $52,500 + $2,500 for each additional person

 

How to Book Your Appointment

What to Bring
Please bring government-issued photo identification and all your tax slips to your appointment.

At the appointment, you will fill out consent forms that authorize FCSS to complete your taxes. Your tax slips will be stored securely in a locked location until processed. Taxes are processed in the order they are received, typically within 2 weeks - 1 month of your appointment. Once your taxes are prepared, you will review them and sign off before they are submitted through Efile.

 

PLEASE NOTE

Strathmore FCSS cannot assist with your taxes if you:

  • Are self employed or have employment expenses
  • Have business income and expenses
  • Have rental income
  • Have capital gains or losses
  • Have filed for bankruptcy
  • Are filing for a deceased person

 


Seniors Tax Rebate Program

Providing Support to Low Income Senior Property Owners

To apply visit the FCSS office located at the Strathmore Municipal Building at 1 Parklane Drive.  For more information please call (403)934-9090.

 

Qualifications

  • Applications must be made before November 30th of the tax year being applied for
  • Must be 65 years of age or older
  • Must be the registered home owner on title
  • Applicants Annual gross household income is the same as or less then the income thresholds set by the Government of Alberta based on line 150 of the tax year notice of assessment
  • Applicants taxes are in good standing
  • Must provide Government issues photo identification
  • Must provide a copy of the current year property tax statement issues from the Town of Strathmore
  • Must provide a copy of the pervious years' personal income Tax Notice of assessment issued by the Government of Canada

Q: How much will the rebate amount be?

 A: The annual income threshold amounts may change annually to match thresholds used by the Government of Alberta.

 

Q: Do seniors have to apply for this tax rebate?

 A: Yes.  To apply, please visit FCSS at 1 Parklane Drive Ave and the staff will assist you with your application.
Q: What information do I need to bring when applying?

Please bring the following with you:

- Must provide Government issues photo identification

- Copy of the current year property tax statement issues from the Town of Strathmore

- Copy of the pervious years' personal income Tax Notice of assessment issued by the Government of Canada

 Q: Will the spouse or estate of the land title owner qualify for the rebate if the title holder is deceased or living in a care facility?
 A: Each individual situation will be assessed and every effort will be made to accommodate unique situations such as these
Q: After qualifying, how long will it take to receive the rebate?
 A: Processing time for each application will take a minimum of 30 days. 
 Q: Will successful applicants automatically apply for next year?
 A: No, Seniors will be required to apply each tax year from July 1 through November 30.
