 Take a peek at some of the activities we're planning for Saturday July 1, 2023!

We'll do our best to  keep our program running on schedule, but things (like the weather) may impact our events. Please remember that activities are subject to change at anytime. 

Opening Ceremonies
10:30 - 11:15am

We've invited our elected officials to raise our flags, share a few words, and give us a ceremonial kickoff. 

Special "O Canada" performance from the Peterson Family. 
Located at the Kinsmen Park Amphitheatre.
Live Entertainment
11:30am - 8:00pm

There's a full entertainment lineup kicking off right after the opening ceremonies. We've curated a great mix of talent showcases, kids entertainment and great bands. You can check out the full lineup here!

Wondering where to park?  You've come to the right place. 

Fireworks
11:00pm

**Update, July 1, 9:30pm** The Fireworks show is moving forward as scheduled at 11:00pm. 

Fireworks will be launched from the Kinsmen Park Ball Diamond. This area will be closed for the day, so please avoid it. The best place to watch will be from the pathways in Kinsmen Park. 

In partnership The Fireworks Factory, the Canada Day fireworks will complete the festivities off with a bang! 

*Please note that the safety of fireworks is weather dependent and we may have to cancel the show at any time. We're planning for the best - but we'll update you right here if there are any changes to the program. 

 

Pancake Breakfast
7:00am – 10:30am

Hosted by the Strathmore Fire Department

Don’t miss out on the pancake breakfast hosted at the fire hall. It’s $5.00 a plate with all of the proceeds going to the Strathmore Fire Department Volunteer Association.

Located at the Strathmore Fire Hall, 721 Lakeside Blvd.

Farmers Market
11:00am - 6:00pm

The Strathmore Farmer's Market has invited their exciting vendors to set up at the Pavilion and in various locations around the park for your shopping convenience!

Petting Zoo
11:00am - 4:00pm

Hosted by 748 Kisling Farms

The famous Kisling Farm baby goats will be in attendance, along with a few more exciting critters. 

Family Fun Activities
11:00am - 4:00pm

The park will be full of fun activities for families to enjoy! Bouncy obstacles, a kid's train, and entertainment. 

Canoe Adventures
12:00pm - 3:00pm

Hosted by the 1st Strathmore Scouts

Join in this fun activity that welcomes your whole family! No registration is required. Thanks to our local Scouts for providing all the equipment for a fun, safe activity on the lake!

Potato Sack Races
11:00am - 4:00pm

Hosted by the REPs Group and RE/MAX KEY

Fun for all ages this family event encourages some friendly competition between friends and families.

Watermelon and more
11:00am - 4:00pm

Pop by the Town tent for a slice of free watermelon, or cool off with a freezie. We'll also have our water bottle trailer setup so you can refill as many times as you need. Remember to BYOB (Bring your own bottle)!

Kids Bike Parade
12:15pm

Hosted by the REPs Group and RE/MAX KEY

Kids are encouraged to decorate their bike for Canada Day and come down to Kinsmen Park to show off what they’ve created.

This is an annual event - we're grateful to the Reps of Remax Key for their continued support!

Family Fishing
11:00am - 3:00pm

Canada Day Family Fishing welcomes residents of all ages to participate in recreational fishing. Bring your own rod or borrow one of ours. Alberta sportfishing licenses are required for those ages 16-64. 

Indigenous Dancers
11:00am

Enjoy the culture and the vibrancy of Indigenous Dance! We're pleased to welcome Christopher & Alexis Bull Bear with their children, Caius, Knox, Lira, and Tamia from Siksika Nation. They'll perform after the opening ceremonies conclude - don't miss it! 

Safety
All Day

Please note the following information to help keep you safe at the Canada Day event. 

Bathrooms
Bathrooms are located at the Splash park, near the playground and inside/outside the Municipal Building. 
Weather Safety
If there's severe weather, or a severe weather warning, please seek shelter, or calmly evacuate the park. 
First Aid
If you require first aid please flag-down someone in a yellow Canada Day shirt. Our event staff have walkie-talkies and can call for help. 
A first aid station, including AED, is located at the Municipal Building. 
Additionally, the fire department will be parked at the west boundary of the park and will be able to provide assistance. 
For all emergencies please call 9-1-1. 
Heat
Event-goers can access drinking water at the water trailer on the amphitheater lawn, or inside the Municipal Building. Please bring your own water bottle.
We're forecasted to experience extremely hot temperatures for the day. Please plan ahead, wear a hat and sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Seek shade and take breaks from the sun. A cooling station will be available inside the Strathmore Municipal Building for the duration of the event. If you need to cool off, please head inside and stay safe!
