Strathmore Aims High for 2025 Smile Cookie Week

STRATHMORE, ALBERTA – April 25, 2025 – The Town of Strathmore is once again proud to partner with Tim Hortons for the annual Smile Cookie Week, taking place April 28 to May 4, 2025. This community tradition has raised over $116,000 for Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) since 2017—and this year, the bar is set higher than ever.

With cookies priced at $2 each and 100% of proceeds going directly to the Town’s FCSS programming, the 2025 campaign sets a fundraising target of $30,000 through the sale of 15,000 cookies. Strathmore’s Tim Hortons owners are aiming even higher—hoping to surpass 18,000 cookies and achieve an ambitious milestone: a cumulative $150,000 in total funds raised since the campaign began.

Funds raised during Smile Cookie Week are directed entirely to local FCSS programs that provide critical, often life-changing support for residents in need. Some of the initiatives include: the FCSS ID Program, Community Connection events such as Youth Nights and Seniors Week, mental health education and awareness workshops, and basic needs assistance such as emergency housing support and emergency prescription assistance.

“Smile Cookie funds allow us to be responsive and compassionate in supporting individuals and families facing urgent needs,” said Budd Brazier, Manager of Family and Community Support Services. “Every cookie purchased helps ensure we can continue offering these essential services.”

This year’s campaign will see the return of creative community engagement efforts, including a series of good-natured service challenges. The Strathmore Fire Department has thrown down the gauntlet to their Chestermere counterparts, and a similar challenge is in motion with local RCMP detachments. Town of Strathmore staff will also participate in a workplace cookie challenge.

Winners of each challenge will be treated to a pizza party—and more importantly, bragging rights for supporting a good cause.

Local businesses will be invited to pre-order cookies and display posters in support of the initiative. While FCSS staff won’t be going door to door, personal outreach to major business partners and community stakeholders is already underway.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to place pre-orders, share the campaign on social media, and stop by either participating Tim Hortons location at Edgefield or Pine Road.
