Municipal Building Solar Project Update

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRIGHT FUTURE THANKS TO TOWN SOLAR PROJECT

Addition of Solar Panels to Strathmore Municipal Building Recently Completed

The Town of Strathmore recently completed the solar project on the new Municipal Building. This project is intended to reduce the buildings energy costs, reduce the Town’s carbon footprint, and showcase the possible alternative energy solutions that can be used. The project was funded in part by the Alberta Municipal Solar Program offered by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre, a partnership of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, Rural Municipalities of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta.

“Strathmore is one of the sunniest communities in Canada. Building solar projects into our facilities to harness this energy is a smart decision. I’m proud of this project and grateful for the funding contributed through the Alberta Municipal Solar Program.”  - Mayor Pat Fule

Since July 1, 2021 the system has been able to produce approximately 20MWh of electricity. If you have questions on the system please contact the Town at infrastructure@strathmore.ca.
