Welcome to the Alberta Culture Days Festival! Join us on September 16th for a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity, community unity, and shared experiences. This event is designed to showcase the rich tapestry of cultures thriving in Strathmore and create a memorable experience for all attendees.

What to Expect:

  • Cultural Delights: Indulge in a feast of flavors at our diverse array of food vendors and food trucks. Sample dishes representing various cuisines and culinary traditions from around the world.
  • Cultural Farmers Market: Immerse yourself in a bustling marketplace where a diverse range of vendors will offer an assortment of goods. Explore and discover unique products, handcrafted items, artworks, and culinary delights from various cultures around the world.
  • Captivating Performances: Be enthralled by a lineup of talented entertainers, musicians, dancers, and performers who will take the stage throughout the day. Experience the vibrancy and beauty of cultural expressions through captivating performances.
  • Engaging Activities: Participate in interactive activities and demonstrations that offer a glimpse into different cultural practices, arts, and crafts. Engage your senses and expand your horizons through hands-on experiences.
  • Community Connections: Connect with local organizations, community agencies, support networks and valuable resources. Learn about the programs, services, and opportunities available to enhance community engagement and integration.
  • Family Fun: Bring the whole family along! Enjoy activities designed for children and families, including games, face painting, storytelling, and more. Create lasting memories as you bond and explore the festivities together.
  • Cultural Exhibits: Immerse yourself in the heritage and traditions of diverse cultures through informative exhibits and displays. Take a stroll through Kinsmen Park and some local businesses in the area like the Strathmore Municipal Library, Wheatland Arts Society, and The Vault. Explore the human library, filled with lived experiences and rich stories; experience clay art, pottery making, and other art mediums. Examine local artists and participate in our art competitions. And so much more!

People's Choice Awards

Votes are being accepted at the Vault Cultural Collective until 2pm on September 16. Head to the mainstage at 2pm to find out the winner!

Art Demonstrations

Wheatland Society of Arts is thrilled to announce that on September 16th, we will be celebrating not only Alberta Culture Days, but also the Grand Opening of the new Pottery Studio!  

Everyone is invited to this exciting event where numerous WSA art instructors and members will be demonstrating an array of unique and exciting art mediums, including clay! You will have the chance to wander around both the Art and Pottery Studio, observe the demonstrations, try your hand at a new medium, and enjoy some complimentary refreshments.  

But that's not all... There will also be exciting prizes to win, making it an event you won’t want to miss! So, come on down and join the fun!

Main Stage
11:00 - 11:30am Opening Ceremonies: 
Introductions, an opening prayer (given by Alvine Eagle Speaker)
11:35 - 12pm Wheatland Whirlers: Join in for an interactive workshop!
12:05 - 12:30pm: Shirley Hill Hoop Dancing
12:35 - 1:15pm: Indigenous dancing and drumming performances
1:20 - 2pm F.O.C.U.S. on Seniors: Henna applications, colouring, Saree draping, Garba dance and a Mother/Daughter Bollywood performance. 
2:05 - 2:30pm: Calgary Metis Cultural Jiggers
2:35 - 3:00pm: Community Showcase
3:05 - 3:30pm Ashford Baker at Reggae Tone Fitness: Music and Movement of the Caribbean.
3:30 - 4:30pm Closing Ceremony: Shirley Hill Hoop Dancing and a performance from Double Rider.

Activity Area
11am - 1pm: Indigenous Traditional Games
1 - 1:30pm and 2:30 - 3pm: 
Tai Chi

*Please note that entertainers, stage times and activities are subject to change. 

Make sure to visit the Prospect Human Services table, where you can leave your creative mark on an engaging and interactive art piece suitable for all ages to participate in.  This collaborative masterpiece once completed will be proudly showcased, symbolizing the rich cultural tapestry woven by diverse artists coming together to create something truly special.  Don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to a celebration of cultural unity through art.
