Culture and Wellbeing Task Force

Strathmore Empowers Community Wellbeing; Launches Dedicated Culture and Wellbeing Task Force.

STRATHMORE, ALBERTA | June 8, 2023 – The Town of Strathmore is proud to announce the establishment of a dedicated Culture and Wellbeing Task Force aimed at fostering a healthy, welcoming, and inclusive community.

The Culture and Wellbeing Task Force will help guide Strathmore FCSS with the implementation of two grant-funded initiatives: the Strathmore Welcoming Initiative funded by the Government of Alberta and the Connected by Culture project funded by the Canadian Mental Health Association.

The task force gives us the opportunity to actively involve the community to develop programs and execute efficient use of the grant money. We’re looking for the advice and expertise of Strathmore’s residents to help decide what programs Strathmore will benefit from most – ensuring these funds will create meaningful and lasting change,” said Melissa Masse, Community Support Coordinator with Strathmore FCSS.

Funds in the amount of $258,381 from the Government of Alberta’s Settlement, Integration, and Language Projects (SILP) grant will fund the Strathmore Welcoming Initiative. This project will support programs that increase the community’s capacity to meet the unique needs of newcomers and develop a welcoming and inclusive community for all.

Additional funding in the amount of $12,950 was received from the Canadian Mental Health Association to support community wellbeing that leverages the strengths of Strathmore’s unique culture and heritage.

Both grant funded projects will provide opportunities for community programming, events, and educational opportunities for community members and professionals. Community members are invited to apply to become a member of the Culture and Wellbeing Task Force by calling Strathmore FCSS, 403-934-9090. Additional information will also be available at Strathmore.ca.
