Council Meeting Highlights, October 5, 2022

In attendance: Deputy Mayor Peterson, Councillor Langmaid, Councillor Mitzner, Councillor Montgomery, Councillor Wegener, Councillor Wiley

At last evening’s Council Meeting Council gave final reading to the Boards and Committees Bylaw and approved the reallocation of funds to purchase operations equipment.

  • Council passed a consent agenda that contained:
    • Wheatland and District Emergency Medical Services Association monthly meeting report, September 20, 2022
    • Wheatland Housing Management Body Board meeting minutes, May – August, 2022
    • Hope Bridges Society Fall Gala invitation
  • Council authorized Administration to change the scope of the 2022 capital budget to allow for the purchase of a columbarium to correct a clerical error.
  • Council approved the reallocation of funds to purchase of a Compact Track Loader, a Large Loader, and a new water tank and skid unit to be fitted to an existing truck.
  • Council approved a Non-Statutory Public Hearing for a residential Development Permit to be held November 2, 2022.
  • Council gave first and second reading to the Traffic Control Bylaw #22-06.
  • Council gave first, second and third reading to the Boards and Committees Bylaw, #22-26.
  • Deputy Mayor Peterson relayed a question to Administration about if the Strathmore Lions could subsidize fees for lifeguard and instructor certifications to help ease staff shortages at the Strathmore Aquatic Centre.
