Council Meeting Highlights, June 7, 2023

At last evening’s Council meeting Council reviewed the 2022 Financial Audit and approved a public art mural.
Council approved the Skills for Success Public Art Mural, Community Improvement Funding recommendations and the RCMP Multi-Year Watch Clerk Funding Agreement in their Consent Agenda.

Administration and Avail Chartered Professional Accountants presented the 2022 financial statements.
Council approved the formation of a Culture and Wellbeing Task Force. The Task Force will help guide the FCSS department with the implementation of two grant funded initiatives.

Council gave first, second and third reading to the Library Loan Repealing Bylaw, 23-18. The bylaw repeals Bylaw 02-11 as it has become outdated.
Council requested that Administration arrange an education session for Council regarding diversity, education, and inclusion.
Council had an inquiry about illegal racing on Centennial Drive. A motion to have Administration bring more information about this was defeated.
Councillor Langmaid made a statement in recognition of Pride Month, and Councillor Peterson recognized June as National Indigenous History Month.
Council reviewed Administrative Inquiries regarding playground equipment in the Hillvale area and honoring Leroy Flamond.
Council put forward a motion requesting that Administration prepare an amending bylaw regarding the Animal Control Bylaw, having to do with escalating fines for nuisance cats. The motion was defeated.
Council approved the purchase of a Water License after an in-camera discussion.
