Council Meeting Highlights, July 6, 2023

At last evening’s Council meeting Council reviewed a Recreation User Fees Report and  approved the Alberta Municipalities resolution regarding Provincial Indigenous Awareness Training & Support. 

  • Wheatland Society of the Arts presented an update and expressed their gratitude to Council for their ongoing program funding.
  • RCMP Staff Sergeant Mark Wielgosz presented the Q4 Quarterly report and the 2023-2024 policing priorities.
  • Council reviewed various reports and meeting minutes as part of their Consent Agenda. View the items passed on the Consent Agenda here.
  • Council approved the use of MSI Grant funds in the amount of $20,000 to complete grading and asphalt extension for the fire hall.
  • Director of Community and Protective Services, Mark Pretzlaff presented Council with a recreation user fee comparison. The report includes user fees from facilities in similar sized communities.
  • Council approved amendments to the Alberta Municipalities resolution regarding Provincial Indigenous Awareness Training & Support. Council also agreed to submit the resolution for consideration at the 2023 Alberta Municipalities Convention in the Fall.
  • Council appointed three members to the FCSS Advisory Board for a three-year term, and appointed Councillor Langmaid to the Advisory Board for a one-year term.
