Meeting Date: July 3, 2024. 

In attendance: Mayor Fule, Deputy Mayor Langmaid, Councillor Mitzner, Councillor Montgomery (virtual), Councillor Peterson, Councillor Wegener, Councillor Wiley (virtual). 

1. Public Hearing 

Council held a public hearing for Land Use Amending Bylaw No. 24-14 (Garden and Garage Suites). 

2. Consent Agenda 

Council adopted the following reports through the consent agenda: 

  • Regular Council Meeting Minutes – June 19, 2024  

  • WHMB Minutes – Regular Meeting – March 21, 2024 

  • WHMB Minutes – Regular Meeting – April 18, 2024 

3. Delegations 

Council approved the following report. 

  • RCMP Q4 Quarterly Report & 2024-2025 Policing Priorities – Council approved the 2024-2025 RCMP Policing Priorities for the Town of Strathmore. 

4. Business 

The following points were discussed and approved by Council. 

  • WHMB Letter of Support  

  • Council approved a formalLetter of Support for WHMB. 

  • Council approved the Town of Strathmore funding requirement, per the WHMB’s funding formula, for the development of the new Wheatland Lodge. The Town will be donating land east of Kinsmen Park as the build-site for the lodge and committed up to $200,000 ($100,000 each in 2024 and 2025) to remediate the land prior to any construction starting. 

  • Council rescinded Resolution No. 085.04.23 and amended Resolution No.071.04.24 to delete “AND THAT the design work payment is contingent on all Wheatland Housing Management Body funding partners also authorizing payment for their proportionate share of the design work.” 

5. Bylaws 

  • Fire Services Bylaw – Council gave first, second, and third reading to Bylaw 24-10, the Fire Services Bylaw. 

  • Council gave second and third readingLand Use Amending Bylaw No. 24-14 (Garden and Garage Suites).
