Council Meeting Highlights December 15, 2021

In attendance: Mayor Fule, Deputy Mayor Montgomery, Councillor Langmaid, Councillor Mitzner, Councillor Peterson, Councillor Wegener, Councillor Wiley

Council received reports from administration and passed the 2021 fees bylaw.

  • Administration recognized Deputy Fire Chief Bas Owel for his exemplary service as intern Fire Chief, and OH&S Advisor Kaylee Latour for achieving COR designation for the Town of Strathmore.
  • Council directed administration to submit a grant application for funding through the Alberta Community Partnership for the Cooperative Storm Water Management Initiative.
  • Council was presented with a proposal from Lakewood of Strathmore regarding a lease agreement for twin arenas that would be built in the Lakewood community. The proposal was accepted as a report by Council.
  • Administration presented Council with a report pertaining to Strathmore obtaining City Status. The report contained the advantages and costs associated with City Status. Council accepted the report as information.
  • Council approved the cancelation of the January 5 Council Meeting and directed Administration to schedule a Committee of the Whole Meeting for January 26, 2022 at 6:00pm.
  • Council approved funding for the Community Futures Wild Rose Digital Economy Program. The proposed program would help business grow their online revenue.
  • Council appointed Mayor Fule to the Handibus board for a one year term.
  • Council accepted the Wheatland Housing Body Building Committee meeting minutes.
  • Council gave first, second and third reading to Bylaw 21-30, the 2021 Fees Bylaw.
