Highlights from the Regular Meeting of Council

Wednesday, April 21, 2021

In attendance: Deputy Mayor Cockx, Councillor Bauer, Councillor Cockx, Councillor Corbiell, Councillor Montgomery, Councillor Peterson, Councillor Sobol

The Town of Strathmore Council discussed several bylaws and initiatives:

  • A presentation from Wheatland County Counselling addressed the Town’s subsidized counselling program
  • Council received the audited financial statements from the independent auditor
  • FCSS grant recommendations were approved by Council
  • A new Health Subcommittee Transportation Initiative was approved
  • Council proclaimed May 2 – 9 as Emergency Management Week
  • The Fire Underwriters Survey was accepted as information
  • Acting Chief Bas Owel presented the Emergency Coordination Centre After Action Report, which was accepted by Council for information
  • Council rescinded two Council Policies and Procedures that are now addressed by bylaws
  • A motion to support a requisition from the Wheatland Housing Management Board for hospice funding was approved
  • A motion to direct Administration to prepare a Council Charter was approved
  • Committee Reports were received and accepted regarding the Library Board, the Handi-Bus, and the Seniors Advisory Committee.
  • One bylaw was reviewed by Council:
    • Bylaw 21-13 Bylaw 21-13 Land Use Bylaw Amendment - Addition of Home Occupations Use to R3 District received second and third readings
