The Town of Strathmore has joined households across Strathmore and the Calgary region in a blue ribbon campaign. This campaign encourages people to tie blue ribbons onto their homes or to replace porch lights with blue bulbs to show support for the family of Sgt. Andrew Harnett and his colleagues in the Calgary Police Service. Blue LED lights have been tied to the pillars of the Strathmore Municipal Building and the Town lowered its flags to half mast at the Strathmore Municipal Building on Saturday as a symbol of mourning for Sgt. Harnett.
Mayor Pat Fule shared a statement to social media expressing his condolences on behalf of the Town:

I am very sorry, and on behalf of the Town of Strathmore, I wanted to express my gratitude for his service, as well as all police, as they put themsleves at risk everyday for us. May God bless him and his family...we are all so sorry."
