The Town of Strathmore retained Dillon Consulting in 2014 to prepare the West Strathmore Conceptual Scheme, affecting approximately 384 hectares of lands comprising the westerly six quarter sections annexed to the Town in 2010. Dillon Consulting, through consultation with the affected landowners, other stakeholders, and the Town of Strathmore Administration, has now completed the Conceptual Scheme. The Conceptual Scheme is a long-range planning policy document, identified in the Municipal Development Plan as a necessary next step to set a framework for the eventual preparation of Area Structure Plans.
Bylaw 16-08 is a Bylaw to adopt the West Strathmore Conceptual Scheme. Bylaw 16-08 received First Reading from Town Council on April 20, 2016 and a Public Hearing has been scheduled for May 18, 2016 at 7:00pm at the Town of Strathmore Municipal Office (680 Westchester Road, Strathmore AB, T1P 1J1).

A Council Public Hearing was held on May 18, 2016 for Bylaw 16-08 being a Bylaw to adopt the West Strathmore Conceptual Scheme. The Conceptual Scheme was presented to Council at the Public Hearing by Administration and the Town’s Consultant. Following the presentation and questions, Council passed a motion to recess the Public Hearing to a future date. Council recessed the Public Hearing to provide additional time for landowner input.
