Public Hearings – Amending Statutory Plans and the Land Use Bylaw
The Land Use Bylaw and Statutory Plans, such as Area Structure Plans and the Municipal Development Plan, may be amended by bylaw. Before giving second reading to amend these documents, Council must hold a Public Hearing in accordance with the Municipal Government Act (s. 692).
Public Hearings are open to the public. Any person or group of persons, or persons representing others, who claim to be affected by the proposed amendment, may address the proposed amendment at the Public Hearing. Before the scheduled date, Public Hearings will be advertised in a local newspaper, and will be advertised online at www.strathmore.ca. Written submissions for the Public Hearing must be received by Town Staff before the deadline noted on the advertisement and on the website.
Persons wishing to make an oral presentation at the Public Hearing must submit their name and address along with their presentation material to the Town Office. The Public Hearing Agenda will then be updated to include this information. To be fair to all attendees and other speakers, verbal presentations should be no longer than five (5) minutes in duration.
Public Hearings are held in the Council Chambers at the Town of Strathmore Municipal Building at 680 Westchester Road. Public Hearings will commence at 6:00pm on the scheduled evening unless otherwise stated.
