The department is very proud of our serving members, their capabilities, their commitment to community and our state of readiness. It takes a very special kind of person to sacrifice their time and efforts for the greater good of the community at large. Your firefighters always have and always will, provide the excellent services you have come to expect from your fire department, knowing the community appreciates all of their efforts. Fire Pit Application and Permit

Over the last few years the Town Fire Department has responded to a greater number of Fire Pit complaints between neighbours. Our investigations are finding a number of complaints are derived from unregistered fire pits. Hence the need to rewrite and update the application and registration process.
Anyone who has a fire pit in on their property, which includes portable fire pits purchased through local retail outlets, requires a permit issued from the Town of Strathmore.

The Town of Strathmore is responsible under By-Law 05-02 to regulate and control the design, construction of back-yard fire pits. The enforcement of this by-law is carried out with site inspections by fire department members. Unfortunately, due to the number of illegal fire pits in Strathmore, the Town of Strathmore has initiated a Fire Pit Application and Permit program whereas all occupants and owners are required to submit a new application, the Town of Strathmore fire department shall issue a Fire Pit registration number.

Property Owners or Occupants shall pick up their applications at the Town Of Strathmore, Town Office located at 680 Westchester Road, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1G2 during business hours. Upon filling out the application, return your application to the Town office. To off-set the cost of the fire department members inspection a onetime fee of $20.00 shall be charged to each property for the inspection and registration of the Fire Pit. Permits are not transferrable between home owners or occupants upon sale or vacating rental units.

Should the fire department be called out to your property, your permit shall be readily available to firefighters for verification of your Fire Pit’s registered.

Penalties shall be enforced upon failing to not register your fire pit. These may include a portion or all of the following:
a. Setting an illegal fire - $200.00 fine
b. Costs of responding fire apparatus - $850.00
